On the occasion of National Fisheries Week celebrations, Upazila Fisheries Officer interacted with journalists at Laksam, Comilla under the slogan “Nirapada Fish Bharbo Desh, Garbo Smart Bangladesh”.

On this occasion, Fisheries department will continue the campaign through miking, banners, posters and festoons in Laksam to motivate the fish farmers.
In addition, there will be release of fish hatchery, documentary films made on the progress and success of the current government in the fisheries sector, exchange of views with marginal level fishermen and fishermen, consultancy services, soil and water testing of ponds, training on fisheries practices will be provided. He also said that Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in fish production. Fish and fish products are the largest foreign exchange earners. Not only that, but 60 percent of the rural people’s lack of non-vegetarian food is also covered by fish. As a part of that lakh, 3000 MT of fish is being produced in Laksam Upazila.
