The establishment contract employees of Kushtia Medical College have staged an indefinite strike with the aim of realizing the five-point demand. On Thursday, July 6-2023, in front of the academic and administrative building of Kushtia Medical College at 11:30 a.m., the employees observed a strike and formed a human chain.

54 contractual employees participated in the strike and human chain and presented their demands in front of the journalists present. Their demands are, regularization of employment of temporary employees in revenue sector, speedy implementation of regularization process, payment of salary and other allowances adjusted to current market rates till regularization, no termination of employment without notice, if termination of employment is to be granted To follow the employment rules according to the authority. During the strike and human bonding, the employees said, we have been working at the salary of 2000/- (two thousand) taka from 2000/- (two thousand) taka 7,800/-(seven thousand eight hundred) during the establishment of Kushtia Medical College from 2011 to 2021. All of us have been performing our duties properly with honesty and devotion for a meager salary in the hope of getting a government job. Later I was working in the outsourcing service system from December 2021 to June 30, 2023. At present, due to the expiry of the contract period of the outsourcing system, all the employees who were employed during the founding period, now we are forced to go on a work break due to the fact that our company does not take any responsibility from us. The employees also said that permanent employees of Kushtia Medical College should be made permanent in the revenue sector. We have to adjust our salary by adjusting the current market value until regularization.

In this regard, the principal of Kushtia Medical College Deldar Hossain told reporters that they are all contractual employees. The contract with the company they were working through expired on June 30. We have nothing to do. However, we are trying to resolve it by talking to the employees and contractual companies.
