Courtesy meeting of JICA Executive Senior Vice President with Minister of State for Power

Yamada Junichi, Executive Vice President of Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) had a courtesy meeting with Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid, and Azbikel Chibala. During this time they discussed various issues related to mutual interest. (JICA) Executive Senior Vice President said, progress of ongoing projects including Matarbari is satisfactory. There is an opportunity to work together on advanced technology, gas-meters, capacity building of Bangladesh Power Management Institute. The State Minister expressed his gratitude for the financing and cooperation in various projects in the power and energy sector, Japan is a tried friend of Bangladesh. Cooperation on energy transition towards carbon neutrality, increasing the capacity of power and network sector, modernization of gas pipeline system, prepared gas meter, gas pipeline extension, underground sub-station etc. will be discussed. He said, the global context is increasing the importance of renewable fuels. I would like to take up a short project on hydrogen fuel. There is also an opportunity to work together on increasing energy efficiency. Among others, JICA chief representative Tomohide Ichiguchi, additional secretary of power department Md. Nurul Alam and additional secretary of energy and mineral resources department Shahinakhatun PAA were present during the discussion.
