Chuna Rani (55) committed suicide after being tortured by her son and daughter-in-law and drinking poison. The incident took place at Makham Sajjal house of Madhavpur village of Adabaria union of Bauphal in Patuakhali at 1 am on Wednesday, July 5. After receiving the information, the police of Baga Investigation Center went to the scene today, Thursday, July 6.
The deceased’s husband Makham Sajjal (65) alleged that he and his wife Chura Rani, son Madhav Sajjal and grandson Madhavi Sajjal lived separately in the same house by partitioning it. On the day of the incident, Chura Rani asked her daughter-in-law for some rice and pulses to cook and eat, but as the daughter-in-law refused to give rice and pulses, while the two were quarreling over it, son Madhav Sajjal came and quarreled with his mother. At one stage son and daughter-in-law beat Chura Rani together. He tried unsuccessfully to stop the fight and was also beaten up.
The fight lasted from 10:00 to 10:30. Then Makham Sajjal went home with his wife Chura Rani. Around 1 o’clock in the night, Chuna Rani poisoned herself with anger. When he was taken to Baufal Health Complex around 3 pm, the emergency department doctor declared him dead.
