The closing ceremony of “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Inter-College Football Tournament-2022” was held on Sunday (June 25) under the organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports and overall management of Gazipur District Administration and Gazipur District Sports Office. Gazipur District Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Abu Torab Md. Shamsur Rahman, Gazipur Superintendent of Police Kazi Shafiqul Alam, BPM (Service), Gazipur Zilla Parishad Chairman Md. Motahar Hossain Molla, former senior members of Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League were present as special guests on the occasion. -President Hero Freedom Fighter Kazi Alim Uddin (Buddin), President of Gazipur Sadar Metro Thana Awami League Adv. Wajuddin Mia, former Vice President of Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League, brave freedom fighter Abdur Rauf Nayan. The final match was held between these 2 teams Kapasia Sharif Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Degree College of the district and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Government College of Kaliakoi. The champion was Kapasia Sharif Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Degree College team and the runner-up was Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Government College team from Kaliakoi. The chief guest congratulated the champion and runner-up teams and gave away the award trophies. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Mamunul Karim presided over the event. The member secretary of the said tournament, Gazipur District Sports Officer Farzana Akhtar Sathi said, “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Inter-College Football Tournament-2022” was inaugurated on June 17. Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth and Sports of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Md. Zahid Ahsan Russell MP announced the auspicious opening of the tournament at Gazipur district level as the chief guest. The state minister said that there is no alternative to sports to build a healthy body and mind and build a drug-free society. 24 institutions of Gazipur district participated in the tournament and the final game was held through phased play. In the closing ceremony, dignitaries, teachers and students of various educational institutions attended and enjoyed the game.
