 An important part of the project’s various activities is to provide health care to the “at-risk male and transgender” population. As part of this, an advocacy meeting was organized in Dinajpur district under the initiative of Dhaka Ahsania Mission.

Held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 2 pm at Shaheed Dr. Abdul Jabbar Auditorium of Dinajpur Civil Surgeon Office as part of the implementation of Dhaka Ahsania Mission with the participation of public representatives, religious leaders, lawyers, journalists, district level affiliated GO-NGO officials, field level officials and employees of the Health Department. Civil Surgeon Dr. AHM Borhan-ul-Islam Siddiqui chaired the advocacy meeting and ADM Md. Mehdi Hassan spoke as the chief guest. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Shah Muhammad Sharif and Dinajpur Kotwali Police Inspector (Unarmed) Biswa Nath Das Gupta spoke as special guests.

At the advocacy meeting, the presentation was made through the project by Dinajpur The Global Fund Project Dhaka Ahsania Mission-Dinajpur Sub-DIC in charge. Jahangir Alam.

Civil Surgeon Office Senior Health Education Officer. PWID Project – Dinajpur outlet manager Md. Mozammel Haque, FSWI-Dinajpur outlet manager Reema Nandi and doctors of 250-bed general hospital, various NGO workers and dignitaries participated in the discussion in the meeting under the lively supervision of Saiful Islam.

The participants of the advocacy meeting discussed in detail how to ensure that transgender and male sex workers are covered in health services including STIs and HTIs without discrimination.

It should be noted that Dhaka Ahsaniya Mission is a non-governmental human rights, voluntary and developmental organization. Since 1988, Bangladesh has been working to overcome the status quo for the poor, marginalized and high-risk communities, sexual minorities, transgenders, indigenous peoples and other disadvantaged groups in rural and urban Bangladesh. In continuation of that, the project named “Prioritized HIV Prevention Services for Key Population (MSM, MSW, Hijra) in Bangladesh” currently under the management of Dhaka Ahsaniya Mission ICDDR, with the financial support of Global Fund and the overall supervision of National AIDS/STD Program has 28 services in 19 districts. The Center is successfully implementing HIV/AIDS prevention programs for high-risk male and transgender populations.
