A discussion meeting was held on the role of safe food authority in building a smart Bangladesh. Chapai Nawabganj District Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan was the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized by Chapainawabganj district administration and Bangladesh Safe Food Authority district office in the conference room of DC office on Wednesday morning.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ahmed Mahbub ul-Islam presided over the meeting. Chairman of Zilla Parishad and heroic freedom fighter Alhaj Ruhul Amin, heroic freedom fighter Ad. Abdus Samad and others. Additional District Magistrate Asif Ahmed presented keynote speech on safe food. Also present, District Fisheries Officer Mahbubur Rahman, Livestock Officer Mostafizur Rahman, Civil Surgeon representative Dr. Abdur Rakib along with representatives of the Department of Agriculture Extension, journalists from print and electronic media.
In the speech given by the guest, he said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dream was to build a happy, prosperous, hunger-free and poverty-free Sonar Bangla. Implementation requires healthy, creative and skilled manpower. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that there is a dream to take Bangladesh to the ranks of developed countries by 2041.The Eighth Five Year Plan and the United Nations announced Sustainable Development Goals SDG 2030 are committed to ensuring food security for all. Currently, Bangladesh has achieved almost self-sufficiency in food grains production and is on the verge of achieving overall food security. He said that Bangladesh has already entered the lower middle income country.
