Muppet festival was held in Rangpur in an attempt to spread the form and customs of the country by keeping the tradition of thousands of years in the cultural continuity. In this one-day festival, the participating puppeteers enthralled the audience. On Sunday (June 18) evening, the opening ceremony of the festival started with the performance of puppeteer Mahbub Alam on the stage of Rangpur Town Hall. Bangla Mukavaya Research Center organized Rangpur Division Bangla Mukavya Utsav-2023 as guests were the President of Sammilita Cultural Jot Rangpur District Branch Actor Natyajan Biplab Prasad, General Secretary of the Jot Musician Majedur Rahman Jhantu, President of Jatiya Kavita Parishad Rangpur District Branch Poet Manzil Murad Lovelu, Rangpur Padatik. The president is dramatist Vijay Prasad Tapu. Mime icon Kazi Mashhurul Huda presided. Rizwan Rajon, Editor and Director of Bangla Mukavinaya Research Center gave the welcome speech. Meanwhile, the guests expressed their gratitude to the organizers for organizing the mime acting festival at the departmental level and urged them to continue it in the future. At the end of the discussion, Rabiul Alam Ravi, head of Rangpur’s Muktavihang Mukavinya Organization, was awarded the ‘Bengla Mukavinya Sangathak Sammanna’. In addition, the trainees who participated in the two-day Bengali mockumentary workshop held on June 17 and 18 were awarded certificates on the festival stage. The pantomime movement ‘River, Fish and a Harishankar’ performed at the festival. Rangpur Padatik’s performance was ‘Parrot Story’ and Mukta Bihang’s ‘Inspirational Speech’. Apart from this, Nandan Mukabhinaya and Abhinaya School performed ‘Chhaya Manab’ Mupukkin. Spectators enjoyed the performances of Mirror Mime Theatre’s ‘Ekta Ghuri Aakash’ and ‘Dukhir Eid Anand’, a joint production by Rangpur Padatik and Mukta Bihang. After a long time, the performance of the mime artists in the mime festival shows the enthusiasm among the culture-loving people of various professions in the audience queue. Former student of Carmichael College, Khairul Islam Khokon said, I enjoyed such a festival after a long time. The way the language is expressed in body gestures without dialogue is really nice. Puppets are part of culture. I saw Kakashi participating in a mime performance while studying in college. A viewer named Survi Akhter said, I like dumb acting, I enjoy it a lot. All the mime artists who participated in the festival did very well. Such festivals should be regular. Then the youth will be interested to learn and watch it and the practice of mime will also increase. Rizwan Rajon, director of Bengali Mukavavinya Research Center, said that Mukvakin is getting a new response in the country. A practice environment has also been created. With everyone’s cooperation, this kind of organization will be more widespread in the future. Muktbihang and Rangpur Infantry were in charge of organizing this festival and workshop in Rangpur. Besides, the combined cultural alliance Rangpur district has given full cooperation. He also said that this was the second festival of Bangla Mukavinaya Research Center in Rangpur. The first festival was held in Chittagong. Bangla Mukabhinaya Research Center since its establishment in Dhaka last year has been working on the uniqueness of the country’s Mukabhinaya. This center is carrying out the important responsibility of creating the form and customs of puppetry by keeping the tradition of thousands of years in the cultural continuity of the country.
