Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that oil, sugar and lentil along with 5 kg of rice will be given to one crore family card holders of TCB from next month. Apart from this, due to reduction in oil prices in the international market, soybean oil has been reduced by Tk 10 per liter in the country, the benefit of which is also being received by TCB card holders, said the minister.
He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the opening ceremony of TCB’s product sale program at subsidized prices among one crore family card holders nationwide in Tejgaon of the capital today. Commerce Minister said, through TCB, we distribute oil, sugar, lentil and gram and dates in Ramzan at affordable prices to one crore families every month. It has been decided to give 5 kg of rice against each card from next month. Among one crore card holder families of the country, rice will now be given at subsidized price along with other products.
Tipu Munshi said that due to the global situation, the price of goods in the country has increased slightly. Still we are trying to control the price. Oil prices have already been reduced in coordination with the international market. Apart from sugar and pulses, discussions are going on with traders to reduce the prices of other products. He also said that daily necessary products are being supplied at low prices through TCB and instructed the concerned to monitor whether these products are going to their hands properly. He also warned that action will be taken against anyone who commits irregularities.
In response to a question from the journalists, the minister said that the work of making TCB card smart is going on. If this work is completed it will be possible to prevent any irregularities. All the cards not only in Dhaka but all over the country will be converted into smart cards. The Minister of Commerce said that there is a global crisis due to the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war after Corona. He also mentioned that it is the order of the Prime Minister that the distribution of products at low prices will continue through TCB until the situation is normal.
Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce spoke as a special guest on the occasion. TCB Chairman Brigadier General Md. Ariful Hasan, North City Corporation Ward No. 24 Councilor Alhaj Safiullah among others were present.
