Brahmanbaria in Import of 10 tons of onion from India through Akhaura land port

An Indian truck loaded with onions arrived at the port on Monday (June 12) afternoon. Import price of onion per ton is 250 USD. The importing company will release the onions from the port tomorrow Tuesday (June 13) morning. Adnan Trade International, the C&F agent at the land port, will handle customs clearing of the imported onions.
The government allowed the import of onions from June 5 due to the increase in onion prices in the country’s market.
Assistant Director of Akhaura Land Port. Atiqul Islam said that a company named BDS Corporation has opened LC for import of 200 tons of onion through Akhaura land port. In the first shipment, 10 tons of onion arrived in a truck. Step by step the remaining onions of LC will arrive at the port. He said that the customs authority will get the fixed rate of duty and the port authority will get different charges from the imported goods.
In this direction, the import trade of Akhaura land port, which was closed for about 3 months, has resumed through the import of onions. Last March 38 tonnes of broken stone was imported from India through the port.
