World Environment Day was celebrated in Barura keeping in mind the slogan of this year: Let’s work together to stop plastic pollution. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh called Barura on Monday 5th June to express solidarity. Under the overall supervision of the upazila administration and organized by Barura’s enlightened social organization Remittance Jodha Sansthan and with the help of generations of youth island cultural workers, hundreds of fruit trees were distributed to the students of Deora High School of Barura Municipality. Deora Secondary School Management Committee President and Organization President Abu Riaz Noor Uddin Khandkar Swapan presided over. Barura Upazila Executive Officer Sabrina Afrin Mustafa was present as the chief guest in the function. Later, Comilla District Environment Movement President and former principal of Comilla Medical College Dr. : Mosleh Uddin, General Secretary Ali Akbar Masum, Writer Ziauddin Thakur, Barura Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Saiful Islam, Assistant Professor Dr. Md Ali Hossain, President of Barura Upazila Press Club Mohammad Masud Majumdar, Former GM of BCIC Md Farooqul Islam, General Secretary of Barura Press Club and President of Orai Apanjan Md Ilyas Ahmad, General Secretary of Comilla District Environment Movement Ali Akbar, Principal of Deora High School Md. Moynal Hossain, Local Councilor Md. Jamal Hossain, General Secretary of Child Marriage Prevention Committee, Kazi Mufti Momin Ullah Bhuiyan, brave freedom fighter Md. Rafiq Mir, President of Raktarna Social Organization Md. Sharif Uddin, General Secretary Hriday Bhowmik, Child Marriage Prevention Committee member Md. Yachin, etc. On this day, on behalf of the organization, fruit trees were distributed among 1,200 students of various educational institutions of the upazila.
