Wife killed due to marital dispute

 Police have arrested husband Shah Alam (55) for killing his wife due to a power dispute. He was arrested from his home in Musulliabad village of Latachapali union in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali early on Tuesday. The police arrested the deceased Mumtaz Begum’s elder brother Abul Hasm in a case lodged at the Mohipur police station. 45-year-old Mumtaz Begum is a mother of two children. According to the source of the case, Shah Alam killed Mumtaz Begum by covering her with a veil and threw her in the pond of her house late on Monday night. Later, the police went and recovered the body of the dead woman from the pond. Before this, Shah Alam has been torturing the woman several times due to a power dispute. Mohipur police station OC Abul Khair said that the body was recovered and sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The accused will be produced in court.
