 Development should be sustainable. Food Minister Bir Muktijoddha Sadhan Chandra Majumder has mentioned that the continuity of the government is necessary to ensure sustainable development. Today, Monday (May 29), he said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the palm tree planting ceremony on the Ashekpur-Balatai road of Bhavicha Union of Niamatpur Upazila. Sadhan Chandra Majumdar said that palm trees play an important role in human life. It gives fruit, also shade. Acts as a lightning rod. Also, palm juice and molasses play a role in the economy. The food minister said, “When I was the chairman of the Hajinagar Union Parishad of the upazila, I planted palm trees on the Ghughudanga road. Those rows of palm trees have now grown, peeking into the sky. The road has caught the attention of people from different parts of the country as a sightseeing spot. He said, many people are now remembering the palm tree planting model shown by me. Seeing palm trees benefiting the country makes me feel good. At this time, he called to plant palm saplings and pay attention to its proper care. Niamatpur Upazila Executive Officer Imtiaz Morshed, Niamatpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Farid Ahmed, Niamatpur Upazila Awami League President Abul Kalam Azad and Bhabicha Union Parishad Chairman Obaidul Haque were present on the occasion. Through the expansion of modern technology 400 hundred palm saplings will be planted on both sides of the Ashekpur-Balatir road under the Agricultural Development Project of Rajshahi Division. Later, the Food Minister inaugurated the Agricultural Technology Fair 2023 at Niamatpur Bahumukhi High School premises and visited the various stalls of the fair. Later, he distributed sheep among the members of the small ethnic groups living in the plains by the Upazila Livestock Department, assisted the participants in various trainings of the Women Affairs Department and handed over laptops to the teachers of the educational institutions.
