 Students have blocked the highway after receiving the news of the death of Rakib, who was seriously injured in a bus run-over in Cox’s Bazar. It is known that Rakib, a motorcycle rider, was seriously injured after being hit by a Marsa Paribahan bus in College Gate area last Sunday (May 28) at 1.30 pm. He was first taken to Malumghat Memorial Hospital and later He was taken to a private hospital in Chittagong. He died there while under treatment at around 1.30 am. Rakib is the son of Md. Manchur Alam of Baluchar village of Ward No. 5 of Dulahazara Union of Upazila and a second year degree student of Dulahazara College. His death was reported at 10:30 am on Monday at Chakria Dulahazara College Gate area of Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway. Hundreds of students protested by blocking the road. This stopped traffic on the highway. At that time, they arrested the bus driver and helper in connection with Rakib’s death and brought them to justice, and made several demands including speed breakers (speed breakers) on the college gate road. Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) received the news at around 12 noon. JP Dewan and Police Station OC Chandan Kumar Chakraborty and local UP Chairman Hasanul Islam Adar went to the spot. With their assurance, the students lifted the blockade. Later, UNO sat with the representatives of transport workers and students. UNO JP Dewan said that the incident of student’s death is very painful. I returned the students to the college with the assurance of fulfilling the demands. I sat in discussion with the representatives of both sides in the college. I hope their demands will be implemented.
