A mysterious robbery took place at the Kochashahr branch of Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank in Gobindganj, Gaibandhar. The robbers tied up the night watchman Jewel Mia and took away Rs. 14 lakhs. The incident took place in the Gobindganj-Mahimaganj road at Kochashahar market on Saturday night.
Bank manager Jasmin Akhtar said that several robbers opened the gate of the bank and entered inside. Then the sleeping night watchman tied up Jewel Mia and unlocked the vault and looted the 14 lakh taka.
He said, turn off the Volt like every day and go home. After coming to the bank in the morning, I heard the incident from the night watchman and informed the police station. Gaibandhar Senior Superintendent of Police Uday Kumar Saha, Chairman of Gobindanj Upazila Parishad Abdul Latif Pradhan and Upazila Executive Officer Md. Arif Hossain visited the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Gobindganj police station Izar Uddin said that all the locks of the bank were opened naturally and the money was taken from the vault. There was no sign of the lock being broken anywhere. That is why the matter is becoming mysterious, he said that more investigation is going on in this regard.
