In Chapainawabganj, RAB-5 arrested a youth for smuggling illegal weapons including two foreign pistols. 04 magazines and 08 rounds were recovered along with the pistol. The arrested arms dealer is Shamim (19), son of Samidul Islam of Sirajganj District Sadar Peepul Bariya Bazar area. At present Gazipur Sadar Salna is a resident of Technogopara village. Rajshahi CPC-1 Chapainawabganj RAB-5 Camp Company Commander Lt. Commander Ruh-Fi-Tahmin Taukir and Company Deputy Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam led by last (May 06) afternoon in front of a fertilizer shop in Godagari Upazila Rasundighi Sadhur Mor. was arrested. RAB said in a press release on Sunday (May 07) morning that Shamim was arrested red-handed in an undercover operation.
According to RAB, the initial interrogation revealed that Shamim stayed in Rajshahi for the last three to four months and made friends with the arms dealers of Chapainawabganj. Following this, he arrived in Chapainawabganj for the purpose of collecting weapons. Later, after collecting illegal weapons from the border area, they are leaving for Rajshahi. He was arrested along with illegal arms and ammunition on Amanura Godagari highway by conducting a raid on the basis of secret information in this regard. In this incident, RAB also informed that a case has been filed at Godagari police station of Rajshahi district and a case has been filed with the concerned police station.
