fire in Bangabazar now under control

 Fire Service media wing officer Shahjahan Shikder informed that the fire was brought under control at 12:36 pm. Earlier on Tuesday (April 4) several markets of Bangabazar were on fire from 6 am. Although the fire service said to bring the fire under control, the fire was seen burning in different places. Most of the shops in Banga Market were burnt to ashes. Businessmen say that at least six markets in Bangabazar caught fire. Out of this only Banga Market has 2900 shops and about one and a half lakh people work there. Bangabazar Market, Islamia Market, Banga 10 Crore Market, Adarsh Market – As these four markets are in one place, basically people call all of them as Bangabazar Market. On the opposite side of the road from here, the fire also spread to Enexco and Bongo Homeo Market. Traders believe that more than 12,000 shops have been burnt in this fire on Tuesday. As a result, they fear that they will face a loss of thousands of crores of rupees. Bangabazar traders are looking for goods in the rubble Mr. Rashed bedding shop in Bangabazar’s Enexco Tower. Jockey told Bangla Tribune that there are 8,000 shops in two tin shed markets in Bangbazar wood market alone. That market is completely burnt. There is no shop that has not been burnt. There are 12 thousand shops in this market. Meanwhile, 5th to 7th floor of Bangabazar’s Enexco Tower was burnt. There are about 115 shops on every floor. Meanwhile, eight people including three members of the fire service were injured in the fire incident and came to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. They are being treated in the emergency department. The fire service said that the damage will be reported later.
