The pressure of patients is increasing every day in Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Doctors are struggling to
provide services under the pressure of increased patients, and patients who come for services are also
in trouble. The patient has to wait for hours after waiting in long queues to see the doctor, to undergo
various tests and to take medicines. On the morning of April 2 (Sunday), it was seen that there was a crowd of patients who came for treatment in the outdoor area of the hospital. Those who have come to see the doctor or those who have come with the patient, are standing in line for a long time hoping to see the doctor. The hospital& outdoor doctor&s chamber, pathology department, medicine distribution department are full of patients and their relatives. In summer, the children who come with the patients for a long time are crying and the tired old patients are seen sitting on the floor. Doctors and doctors; assistants are struggling to cope with the pressure of patients. A person named Meherunnessa said, I am standing for one and a half hours from 12 noon, I am bringing my mother along with me and it is very difficult to stand in line after fasting. The biggest trouble was that my bag was stolen while standing in line. In the bag was the original copy of my national identity card, along with the necessary documents. Another woman next to me also lost her bag. Dr. SM Hannan, Superintendent of Rajbari Sadar Hospital, spoke about this. He said that there is a shortage of space in the hospital, there is a shortage of doctors and necessary manpower. If the new building is completed and the manpower is increased, we can overcome the lock crisis. Still we are trying to provide the best service to the patients. On March 30th, Health Minister Zahid Malek decided to provide emergency health services by government doctors on a pilot basis in 10 district headquarters hospitals and 20 upazila health complexes of the country. This medical service is also running at Rajbari district headquarter hospital. Patients will get the services of expert doctors through senior consultant for 400 taka, junior consultant for 300 taka and medical officer for 200 taka. Locals say that if there is more promotion of government services on a pilot basis in Rajbari, on the one hand, the low income people will go to private clinics, reduce the cost and get quality services.
