Some time after Md. Nur Alam Hossain brought two Chambal trees with tomtom (nachiman) to cut down the trees on his own accord, near Dhaka Kuakata highway in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila, the local residents became suspicious. Initially, Patuakhali reported the matter to the Coastal Forest Department over the phone. At that time, when the tree thief realized the matter, he left the two trees and ran away. Later, when the matter was informed to Mr. Nayan Mistry, Range Officer of Sadar Upazila of Patuakhali Forest Division, he forbade self-meal owner Noor-Alam to cut the two trees brought in TomTom. At this time, Sadar Range Officer Mr. Nayan Mistry forbade the person who came to cut the stolen trees and take the trees or give the trees. Several tree traders and local people, who did not want to reveal their names, said that some unscrupulous traders of Nooralam bring the government trees of various neighboring unions illegally at night or during the day and cut them down and sell them in various haat markets. In this regard, Swameel owner Md. Noor Alam told the reporter, Md. Khalil Garami (40) father: Lal Mia, Md. Harun father: Sekander brought two trees to my Swameel with the intention of cutting them. I have just raised the tree as a tree on the day of ownership of the village, after some time the Patuakhali Sadar range officer prohibited cutting the tree on the phone. Currently, two trees are in our custody. In general, Sadar Upazila Range Officer Mr. Nayan Mistry said: When we get the news of Noor Alam Saheb’s self-interested thief cutting trees, we take initial action as soon as possible and stop the self-interested owner from cutting trees. Later, through our employee Zakir, we found out that the two trees were planted by Morichbunia Union Parishad. The poison was informed to the chairman as it is not the property of our forest department. If you visit the place where the trees are cut, it can be seen that 3 chambal trees and one mahogany tree have been cut from the house of Ward No. 7 Latif Matbar of No. 10 Mirichbunia Union, the remains of which are left in 2 self-meals and two incidents. It is known that three chambal trees have approximately 140 septa and 1 mahogany has about 6 septa. At that time, the locals said, Khalil Garami (40) father: Lal Mia, Md. Harun father: Sekander, Abu Kalam (40) father Azed Ali, Mostafa (45) father: Gagan Matubbar, the said tree was seen to be cut four times for the last three days. They do not know why the tree is being cut because the four people who cut the tree are local residents and they all took it as normal. On the other hand, chairman of No. 10 Morichbunia Union Parishad, Md. Masum said that the tree seized by the forest official of Noor Alam and two more trees near Latif Matbar’s house in Ward No. 7 were cut for the development of the mosque, but he confirmed the fact that the 4 trees are government assets. But he did not provide any kind of documentary evidence.
