2022 in the premium collection of 9 public and private life insurance companies decreased. Among them 7 old companies and 2 new companies. The premium collection of these 9 companies has decreased by Tk 185 crore 38 lakh.
2022 in these 9 life insurance companies collected a total premium of 1 thousand 878 crore 99 lakh taka. Earlier in 2021 this collection was 2 thousand 64 crore 37 lakh taka.
This figure has emerged in the 2022 business closing accounts report of life insurance companies filed with the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority.
Out of the 18 public and private life insurance companies approved before 2013, the total premium collection of 7 has decreased by Tk 182 crore 17 lakh.
2022 in the total premium collected by these 7 companies is 1 thousand 849 crore 52 lakh taka. Which in 2021 was 2 thousand 31 crore 69 lakh taka.
Among the old 7 companies whose premium collections have declined are-
Progressive Life’s premium collection decreased by Tk 5 crore 85 lakh or about 12 percent, Sunlife’s total premium collection decreased by Tk 10 crore 37 lakh or 10 percent, Prime Islami Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk 14 crore 62 lakh or 3.41 percent, Meghna Life’s total Premium collection decreased by Tk 16 crore 81 lakh or more than 4.12 percent;
Rupali Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk 38.63 million or 15.41 percent, Homeland Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk. 421.9 million or approximately 43 percent and First Islami Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk. 537 million or approximately 8 percent.
Out of the 17 life insurance companies newly approved after 2013, the total premium collection of 2 companies has decreased by Tk 3.21 crore.
2022 in the total premium collected by these 2 companies is Tk 29 crore 47 lakh. Which in 2021 was 32 crore 68 lakh taka.
Among the 2 companies with reduced premium collection, Diamond Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk 28 lakh or about 2 percent and Swadesh Life’s total premium collection decreased by Tk 2 crore 93 lakh or 19.21 percent.
