Sonaimuri, Noakhali Correspondent: An elderly man named Abul Kashem (60) was murdered in Sonaimuri over a trivial incident. A murder case has been registered at Sonaimuri Police Station, an autopsy report has been prepared and the deceased Abul Kashem has been buried after the autopsy. The incident took place at the house of Amin Uddin Mizhi in Gunsing village of Deoti UP, No. 9, Sonaimuri Police Station. This incident has created a sensation in the area.
According to the case and local sources, Abul Kashem (60), son of the late Cherajul Haque of Amin Uddin Mizhi house in Gunsing village of Deoti UP No. 9 of Sonaimuri police station, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, after noon, the sky was cloudy and if it rained, the soil in the yard in front of the house was covered with old plastic and empty cement bags, on the grounds that the rain water could move away. Due to previous anger, Selina Akter, wife of the late Fazlul Haque of the same house, intentionally and out of anger, got into an argument with Abul Kashem. At one point in the argument, Selina Akter asked her daughters Hiramoni and Roksana Akter Alo and the people in the house to come forward with axes, chisels, sticks and clubs. According to Selina Akhter, Roksana Akhter Alo came forward with a wooden stick and Hiramoni a sharp knife. Before she could realize anything, Roksana Akhter Alo (22) started beating the victim on the neck and head with the wooden stick in her hand. When the victim fell to the ground due to the hit of the stick, Selina (45) and Hiramoni (25) sat on the victim Abul Kashem’s chest and seriously injured him with random punches and kicks. As a result, Abul Kashem lost consciousness on the spot. When the people around came forward due to the noise and screams, Selina Akhter, Hiramoni and Roksana Akhter Alo, who were involved in the incident, fled the scene. When locals took Abul Kashem to the nearby Chatkhil Jebunnesa (Pvt) Hospital for treatment in an unconscious state, the hospital authorities immediately sent Abul Kashem to the Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty at the emergency department of the Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex (Bajra Hospital) declared Abul Kashem (60) dead. In this regard, a case No. 10 (4) 2025 under Section 302/34 of the Penal Code has been registered at the Sonaimuri Police Station against Selina Akhter, Hiramoni, Roksana Akhter Alo and 2/3 unidentified persons.
During the on-site investigation, the deceased’s aunt, Chhayera Khatun, told this reporter that after the incident, people from the accused side were hiding in an unknown place and threatening the plaintiff Shefali Begum and her family members to settle the case and get Abul Kashem’s postmortem report in favor of the accused at any cost. Didar Hossain, former chairman of local No. 9 Deoti UP, said that after the incident, the police have made arrangements for an autopsy including preparing a coffin for the body. The main mystery of the incident will be revealed in the light of the autopsy report. A group of people are trying to find a solution to the social enmity surrounding this incident. They urged the investigation authorities to ensure that the real culprits involved in the incident, including the family of the deceased, get justice under the law and that no one is subjected to unnecessary harassment. In this regard, Sonaimuri Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Morshed Alam said that an autopsy report of the deceased has been prepared and an autopsy has been completed at Noakhali General Hospital. A murder case has been registered at Sonaimuri Police Station in this incident. The real mystery of the incident will be revealed once the autopsy report of the deceased is received. The operation to arrest the accused named in the case is ongoing.
