Former MP from Gaibandha-2 constituency and organizing secretary of Gaibandha District Awami League Shah Sarwar Kabir (50) has been arrested during a special operation by Dinajpur District Police under ‘Operation Devil Hunt’. The joint forces arrested him from a flat in the Eidgah residential area of Dinajpur town after 9 pm on Tuesday (April 15).
Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Md. Marufat Hussain confirmed the matter and said that two cases are pending against Shah Sarwar Kabir at Gaibandha Sadar Police Station on multiple charges including Explosives Act, vandalism and arson. He was in hiding in Dinajpur.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Anwar Hossain and a smart team from DB participated in this operation.
Besides, the district police arrested 70 more accused from different areas of 13 upazilas of the district on the same night. Dinajpur district police said that this drive will continue as part of the ‘zero tolerance’ policy to eradicate crime.
