International Desk: US President Donald Trump has said that Chinese President Xi Jinping has begun a five-day state visit to “tighten” the US by putting pressure on it.

Xi arrived in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, on Monday (April 14) at the beginning of the visit. Trump gave his reaction after the meeting in Hanoi. This week, the Chinese President will begin a visit to three of China’s neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.

According to China’s state news agency Xinhua, Xi will visit Vietnam and Malaysia from April 14 to 15 and Cambodia from April 15 to 18 during his visit.

Xi has begun this visit at a time when tensions are rising with the US over tariffs. Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia are also going to suffer major losses from Trump’s tariffs. This information was given in the British daily Guardian.

On the first day of the visit, the Chinese President met with Vietnamese top leader To Lam. At that time, Xi and Lam signed several memorandums of understanding to strengthen bilateral relations and strengthen the supply chain between the two countries.

Immediately after this, Trump reacted to the meeting in the Oval Office of the White House. Trump commented that this meeting was held to the detriment of the United States.

He said, “I don’t see China’s fault here, nor Vietnam’s. We had a very good meeting, where the topic of discussion was – how can we give the United States a tight squeeze!”

Currently, a crisis has arisen in the global trading system. In such a situation, this meeting is very important. On the one hand, there is a 145 percent tariff imposed by the United States on China. On the other hand, there is a 46 percent tariff from Washington on Vietnam. Although Trump has temporarily suspended it for 90 days. So the concern has not yet subsided. The United States is the largest export market for Vietnamese products.

Therefore, if the tariff goes into effect, it will definitely have a negative impact on Vietnam’s economy. China also needs an alternative market to stabilize its economy. That is why China is believed to be focusing on South Asia this time.

Although the Chinese president had planned his visit in advance, many believe that the visit has created additional tension in the international diplomatic arena after Trump’s tariff imposition.
