A week-long Baisakhi and Folk Fair has been inaugurated in Laksam, Comilla, on the occasion of the celebration of Bengali New Year-1432. Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kaiser Hamid inaugurated the fair at 10 am on Saturday (April 12).
Other upazila officials, media personnel and various professional leaders were present at the time.
As soon as one enters the fair, six stalls of women entrepreneurs from Laksam come to mind, displaying handmade clothes, jewellery and delicious food. Next to these, there are various rides for children to play. Children and teenagers are enjoying themselves while riding the rides. The fair has various shops including jewellery, bags, caps, toys, food hotels, fuchka-chatopi shops, herbal shops, and earthenware products. The festival atmosphere is spreading among everyone around this fair in the urban area. The visitors are very happy that the Laksam Upazila administration is organizing the Baisakhi and Folk Fair.
Laksam Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kaiser Hamid said that a week-long Baisakhi and Folk Fair has been organized in the Laksam Upazila premises. The stalls at the fair showcase the traditions and folk culture of rural Bengal. Along with various products made by local entrepreneurs, various traditional items have found a place in the stalls. He sought everyone’s cooperation to make the fair a success.
