Uncle and nephew sent to jail for kidnapping father and daughter

Md. Sohel Rana: A court in Gomstapur, Chapainawabganj, has sent their brother and uncle to jail for kidnapping and torturing a 6-year-old daughter.
Judge Sarmin Khatun of the Gomstapur Amli Court of the Chapainawabganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Court gave this order on Thursday afternoon.
The accused sent to jail are Faiz Rahman (50), son of the late Mojibur Rahman of Basnitola village in Chaudala union of Gomstapur upazila, and Nefaur Rahman (60), son of the late Haji Danes Uddin of the same village. They are related to each other as uncles and nephews.
The case was filed by Faisal Rahman’s ex-wife Sayla Sarmin Shobha. He filed a case against Faiz and Nefaur Rahman at Gomostapur Police Station on August 28, 2023.
According to the case documents and victim sources, on the night of August 19, 2023, some people in a black microbus picked up Faisal Rahman Sohel from his own house. The next morning, Nefaur Rahman took him from his maternal home, saying that he would take Famia Khatun to school. After that, the father and daughter were missing for four consecutive days.
Despite a lot of searching, relatives could not find them. Later, one of Faisal’s uncles informed the worshippers about the disappearance after Friday prayers at a local mosque. Then another uncle, Nefaur Rahman, said that Faisal is fine and is in a rehab center. However, no further contact was possible after that.
The plaintiff in the case, Sayla Sarmin Shobha, alleged that Faiz and Nefaur kidnapped my ex-husband and 6-year-old daughter and tortured them physically and mentally. Their aim was to seize Faisal’s property. I hope for justice through the court.
Kidnapping victim Faisal Rahman Sohel said, “My own brother and uncle kidnapped and tortured me. They did not spare my daughter either. I hope I will get a fair trial for this incident.”
The police filed a chargesheet in the court on January 31 this year in the case of kidnapping and torture of women and children.
The prosecution’s lawyer, Advocate Abdullah Ahmed Najib, said that the court has ordered the accused to be sent to jail as the chargesheet found them involved. The accused were on bail till the chargesheet was filed.
