Eleven cows, three houses and eleven maunds of paddy have been destroyed in a fire in the isolated Char Kushahata area of ​​Daulatdia union in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari. The family is living under the open sky.
The incident took place on Wednesday (April 9) at the house of Jewel Molla in Kushahata area of ​​Ward No. 1 of Daulatdia Union. Jewel Molla is the son of local Jamal Molla.
Local resident Kamrul Islam said, the incident occurred around 9 pm on Tuesday due to a short circuit. As there is water around the isolated char Kushahata in the upazila, communication there is almost impossible. So, the locals tried to put out the fire, but by then 11 cows, 3 tin houses and 11 maunds of paddy and some rice in the house were burnt to ashes. It is learnt that no one was home at the time, so no casualties were reported.
Jewel Molla broke down in tears, saying that he had nothing left. He had no house, no cows, and nothing to eat. Where would he live with his family and what would he eat?
Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman said, “The matter is sad. In addition to providing immediate relief assistance to the affected families, we are informing the Disaster and Relief Department about the matter.
