Three arrested in Comilla restaurant attack and vandalism

Police have arrested three people in Comilla city in connection with the attack and vandalism of a KFC restaurant.

They were arrested from different parts of the district in a special police operation today (April 8).

On Monday evening, a protest march protesting Israeli attacks on Palestine led to the attack on KFC. During this, the protesters climbed to the second floor of the building and vandalized the restaurant’s glass and threw bricks and stones from below, causing damage.

The district police said that the three people involved in the incident were identified and arrested in a drive.

The police also said that there have been multiple attacks on international brand stores not only in Comilla but also in different places across the country. A total of 49 people have been arrested so far in these incidents.

The arrested are Shafayat (27), son of Tofazzal Hossain, of Matiara village in Sadar Dakshin upazila of the district. Md. Jihad (21), son of Zahirul Islam of Kaptan Bazar area of ​​the city.

Comilla Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohammad Saiful Malik said, additional police have been deployed in Comilla city after the attack and vandalism at KFC. Strict action will be taken against anyone who takes the law into their own hands. We have arrested three people and our operation is continuing to arrest the rest.
