Forest Department demolishes five illegal structures in Ukhia

The Forest Department and the police conducted a joint eviction drive in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, and demolished five illegal structures. The eviction drive was led by Assistant Conservator of Forests Md. Shahinur Islam Shahin, who is in charge of the Ukhia Forest Department’s range, on Tuesday (April 8). Locals said that in the Kutupalong Lambashia area under the Sadar Forest Department, numerous illegal structures were being built and used for business and trade by forcibly occupying government-protected forest land. Ukhia Range Officer Shahinul Islam Shahin confirmed the truth of the drive and said that five illegal structures built on government forest land have been evicted. Such drives will continue. Ukhia Sadar Forest BIT Officer Abdul Mannan, Dochhari BIT Officer Imdadul Hasan, Roni Wala BIT Officer Arafat Mahmud, and APBN police personnel assigned to Lambashia Camp were present in the operation. The concerned Forest BIT officer said that preparations are underway to file a departmental case against those involved.
