Mobile court raids Cox’s Bazar, fines various institutions

As part of the market surveillance of safe food items on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, a mobile court conducted raids in various places in Cox’s Bazar. During the raids, a total of 45,000 taka fines were imposed on an ice cream factory, a pickle factory and a supermarket.
The drive was conducted at various places from 12:30 pm to 3 pm on Saturday. The drive was led by Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury.
In the operation, the city’s Elaektu Car Muntaize Ice Cream Factory in Larpara was fined Tk 25,000 for making adulterated ice cream with harmful colors and saccharin. In addition, the Nazim Pickle Factory in Larpara was fined Tk 10,000 for marketing packaged pickles using fake BSTI numbers, and a supershop in the city’s Badar Mokam area was fined Tk 10,000 for making jilapi in an unhygienic environment and marketing various products in its own packaging without trade license and BSTI approval.
Additional Superintendent of Police of RAB-15 Md. Kamruzzaman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharmin Sultana were present at the time. RAB, Ansar, BSTI team assisted in the operation. District Sanitary Inspector Jaharlal Pal and BSTI Inspector Ranjit Mallick gave the prosecution in the operation.
