Sylhet Correspondent: A preparatory meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in Sylhet on Thursday, March 20, to mark the celebration of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad. In it, the speakers discussed in detail the things to be done to celebrate Eid in a smooth, safe and joyful atmosphere.
At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad said that adequate security arrangements and uninterrupted power supply will be ensured during Eid. For this, law enforcement agencies, the electricity department and the fire service will work round the clock. Additional police will be deployed to control the law and order situation, including preventing theft and robbery and reducing traffic congestion, to reduce the suffering of people during Eid. The Deputy Commissioner urged guardians to ensure that minors refrain from riding motorcycles and do not go out with sound boxes in vans or trucks so that the joy of Eid does not turn into sadness.
Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad said, it is expected that a large number of tourists will come to Sylhet during this Eid holiday. Various initiatives have been taken to ensure the safety and amenities of tourists during the Eid holiday. To avoid road accidents, signboards have been installed to identify accident-prone areas, and additional tourism police and law enforcement officers will be deployed to ensure additional security in tourist areas. He also said that instructions have been given to residential hotels and restaurants not to charge extra money. In addition, a drive will be conducted to ensure that tourists are not cheated by buying fake products and cosmetics in this area. A control room will be opened at the District Commissioner’s office during this time to maintain coordination on various issues.
