One killed in land dispute in Eidgao

A man named Habibul Huda Chowdhury (60) was shot dead in a land dispute in Eidgaon, Cox’s Bazar. The family of the deceased claimed that the attackers were the people of local UP Chairman Abdur Razzak.
The incident took place in Sikder Para of Islamabad Union of the upazila after Tarawih prayers on Friday (March 14).
The son of the deceased Habibul Huda, Adv. Abidul Huda, said that the UP Chairman of that union, Abdur Razzak, was in a dispute over the land of the deceased Habibul Huda Chowdhury. As a result, several clashes broke out since noon on the day of the incident. After the last Tarawih prayers, a group of 20 to 25 armed masked men, loyal to Abdur Razzak, suddenly attacked their house.
At that time, the attackers shot Habibul Huda. With the help of locals, he was quickly rescued and taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Two more women were shot in the incident. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Eidgaon Police Station Mashiur Rahman said that the murder took place in a clash between two parties over a land dispute. Initial investigation has revealed that UP Chairman Abdur Razzak’s men committed the incident. The body of the deceased is at Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital. The OC also said that a drive has been intensified to arrest those involved in the murder.
