Press briefing on National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign in Jhalakati

A press briefing was held with journalists on Thursday at the meeting room of the Jhalakati Civil Surgeon on the occasion of the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign.

This event was organized by the Public Health Nutrition Institute and the National Nutrition Service, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In this campaign, a total of 87,021 children in four upazilas and two municipalities of Jhalakati district will be fed Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules. Of these, 10,413 children aged 6 to 11 months and 76,608 children aged 12 to 59 months have been given capsules, it was informed at the press conference.

Detailed information about the effectiveness of Vitamin ‘A’ Plus and various diseases was presented to journalists by Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, a medical officer assigned to the Civil Surgeon’s Office. The chief guest was Jhalakathi Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humaun Kabir.

In addition, journalists working in Jhalakathi were also present at the meeting. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humaun Kabir highlighted various issues related to disease prevention and national Vitamin ‘A’ Plus. He said, ‘On March 15, children will be given Vitamin ‘A’ Plus in different places in Jhalakathi district.’

He called on everyone to ensure that every child in every area gets Vitamin ‘A’ Plus and no child is left out. Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman will formally inaugurate the campaign on March 15, the Civil Surgeon said.
