Kanjan Kanti Chakraborty, Jhalakathi Correspondent: As part of the program announced by Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh to protest against rape nationwide and demand the death penalty for rapists, a protest march has been held in Rajapur, Jhalakathi.
The protest march started at 11 am today, Wednesday (March 12) from the party office adjacent to the bypass intersection in Rajapur Upazila and ended in front of the Press Club after circling various roads in the city.
The protest march was presided over by Islami Chhatra Andolan Rajapur Upazila President Md. Mahmudul Hasan. The program was moderated by Upazila General Secretary Md. Belal Hafsi. Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh Jhalakathi District Secretary Hafez Ibrahim Al Hadi was present as the chief guest.
Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh Jhalakathi District Vice President M. Aminul Islam, District Organizing Secretary Md. Ishaq Bin Awal and other leaders. Students of various educational institutions under the upazila and union level leaders and activists participated in the procession.
The speakers said that the incidents of rape are increasing at an alarming rate in the country day by day. They demanded the implementation of strict laws against rape and exemplary punishment of the culprits. At the same time, they emphasized on strengthening moral education and religious values ​​in the society. At the end of the protest procession, the program was declared over with a special prayer.
