Monthly meeting of Law and Order Committee held in Goalanda

The monthly meeting of the Law and Order Committee was held on Tuesday (March 11) at 11 am at the Goalanda Upazila administration in Rajbari.
The meeting was held in the hall of the Upazila Parishad under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman.
Regarding the recent sale of sand extracted from the river by BIWTA’s dredger machines and the sale of sand by extracting sand with Bengali dredgers, the Upazila Executive Officer said that the administration’s image cannot be tarnished over a trivial matter like sand and extortion must be stopped.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said, “We have come to know about the extraction and sale of sand in the erosion area, causing damage to people’s lives and property. Moreover, there have been complaints about extortion in the extraction and transportation of sand. Steps will be taken soon to protect people’s lives and property and to prevent the law and order situation from deteriorating.”
Besides, the Upazila Law and Order Committee is the highest forum at the Upazila level for maintaining law and order in the Upazila and coordinating related activities. Goalanda called for all-out cooperation with the Upazila administration and law and order forces in maintaining law and order in the Upazila, proper management of Daulatdia Ghat, prevention of child marriage, prevention of violence against women and children, raising public awareness against drug addicts and drug dealers, and taking strict action against all criminal activities in the Upazila by holding regular and effective meetings of this committee and implementing the decisions of the meeting.
Present at the meeting were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Asaduzzaman, Upazila Family Planning Officer Syeda Tasnubha Maria,
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rakibul Islam, Upazila Health Complex Resident Medical Officer, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Khoknuzzaman, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Salma Begum, journalists working in print and electronic media, and representatives of various departments of the upazila, among others.
