Mohammad Masud Majumder:
A human chain has been formed in Barura, Comilla, demanding justice for the killers of housewife Munni Akhter from Saharpudua area.
On March 11 at 11 am at Barura Zero Point, the mother of the late Munni Akhter, Roksana Begum, said in a human chain with the participation of the locals that in 2021, her daughter Munni Akhter got married to Faisal Hossain, a Saudi Arabian expatriate, son of Delwar Hossain of Saharpudua area (Madhur Baper Bari). Currently, Munni Akhter has a two-year-old daughter. Since Munni Akhter’s husband Faisal Hossain was abroad, her father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law used to misbehave with her regarding minor domestic matters, due to which Munni Akhter used to stay with her daughter most of the time at her father’s house in Alokdia, Shilmuri U Union.
On the occasion of Ramadan on February 26, Munni Akhter came to her husband’s house in Saharpuduya at the request of her expatriate husband, but the day after she came to her husband’s house, at 11 am on February 27, Munni Akhter’s mother Roksana Begum learned through people that her daughter Munni Akhter was dying. Upon hearing this news, Roksana Begum quickly came to Saharpuduya with her family members and saw Munni Akhter lying in the courtyard of the house with a veil tied around her neck.
At that time, Roksana Begum also said that she learned from her daughter’s in-laws’ neighbors that her in-laws had been the victim of taunts from the people of the Ramadan market and had hanged themselves with a veil around their necks, but after seeing everything, Roksana Begum and her family members felt that her daughter had been murdered.
Hundreds of ordinary people from the area gathered in the human chain today and demanded exemplary punishment for the guilty.
In this regard, Barura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Sanjay Sarkar said that a murder case has already been registered and a drive to arrest the accused is underway.
