Mofizul Islam gave such information after the arrest of Kalu Howlader, an accused in the investigation into the robbery at a Hindu house in Jangal village of Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari on the night of November 25, 2024. The OC said that he has multiple cases against him in various places in the country including Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Mirpur, and has been arrested multiple times. Rajbari DB police arrested Kalu Howlader, an accused in 32 cases including murder, robbery, theft and smuggling, in a raid in the Suryamoni area under Madaripur District Sadar Police Station last Sunday (March 9). Arrested Kalu Hawlader is the son of the deceased Fazlu Hawlader of Ghatakchar village in Madaripur Sadar upazila. He was sent to Rajbari court on Monday (March 10) afternoon. Rajbari District Detective Branch (DB) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mofizul Islam said that a team of Rajbari District Detective Branch conducted a raid in Kalkini and Sadar police station areas of Madaripur and arrested Sardar Kalu Hawlader, a dacoit from Suryamoni area of ​​district sadar, at around 5:30 pm last Sunday. There are 32 cases against him under other sections including 22 robberies, weapons, murder, theft, smuggling. After the arrest, it was learned that he had been committing robberies for a long time. Robbery was his addiction. He said that on the night of November 25, 2024, a group of masked robbers of 15 to 20 people with country-made and firearms entered the house of Biduy Ghosh and Bipul Ghosh in Jangal village of the upazila at around 1:30 am. They broke the window grill of Biduy Ghosh’s building and entered inside. At that time, they beat him and blindfolded him. Later, they fled from his house with 80,000 taka in cash, 5 bhari gold chains, rings, earrings and necklaces. They took Bipul Ghosh’s son hostage and entered the house and looted 2.5 lakh taka in cash, 3 bhari gold ornaments and other valuables. The case has been sent to court after his arrest.
