On March 9, 2025, at approximately 2:15 PM, an operational team of RAB-10 analyzed information and data based on secret information and with the help of information technology and in collaboration with RAB-4 and RAB-8, conducted a joint operation from the Kalatala area of ​​​​Chota Chowrasta water tank under Sadar police station of Patuakhali district. In the said operation, the absconding accused Md. Jahangir Howlader (50), father- deceased Bishai Howlader, Sang- Govardhan, Thana- Gournadi, District- Barisal, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the learned court in the murder case of Gournadi Police Station of Barisal district, Case No.-02, Date-04/12/2003, GR-144/2003, Session-150/06, was arrested after being absconding for 15 years.
During the interrogation, it was further learned that since his conviction, the arrested accused had been hiding his name and identity in different parts of the country for 15 years by hiding himself in various disguises. The arrested accused has admitted that he is a fugitive accused sentenced to life imprisonment in the said case.
The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station.
