The DB Police have arrested former Lalmonirhat District Council Chairman Shyamal and his associate Kamrul from the capital.
Lalmonirhat Police Superintendent Tariqul Islam confirmed the arrest through a press release on Thursday afternoon, February 27.
The press release stated that on Wednesday night, as part of the Devil Hunt operation led by Lalmonirhat DB Police OC Saad Ahmed, they were arrested in Nikunja 2 under Khilkhet Police Station and Sobahanbagh under Dhanmondi Police Station.
The press release further stated that since August 5, Abu Bakar Siddique Shyamal and one of his associates Kamrul had been hiding in various places and were trying to destabilize the country by creating public opinion through social media to rehabilitate the fascist Awami government.  In order to implement this plan, the leaders, workers and supporters of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations across the country are organizing their workers in the relevant areas to carry out destructive activities in order to harm the security of the state, public safety and public order, and to create hatred against the current legitimate government and even create tension among the people.
Abu Bakkar Siddique Shyamal (42), son of Atiar Rahman of Madhya Guddimari area of ​​Hatibandha upazila, is the former chairman of Lalmonirhat Zilla Parishad and organizing secretary of Hatibandha Upazila Awami League. There are several cases against him from Hatibandha police station and RMP Kotwali police station. His associate Kamrul Hasan (32) is said to be a member of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, central committee and active member of Joy Bangla Brigade. Kamrul is the son of Fazlul Haque of Dahagram Angarpota Sardar Para area of ​​Patgram, Lalmonirhat.
In this regard, Lalmonihat Police Superintendent Tariqul Islam said, “They were trying to destabilize the country by creating public opinion through social media with the aim of rehabilitating the Awami League government. There are multiple cases against them in Hatibandha and various police stations. They were sent to court on Thursday afternoon.”
