A woman and a man were arrested while consuming drugs in a drive by the Kushtia Narcotics Control Department. According to sources from the Kushtia Narcotics Control Department, on Monday, 24/02/2025, based on a secret tip-off, the Kushtia Narcotics Control Department arrested Hasibur Rahman Sagar (34) and Mosha Shammi Khatun (27) while consuming drugs in the Cheuria Mandalpara area under Kumarkhali police station in Kushtia district.
The drive was conducted by the Kushtia Narcotics Control Department’s Sub-Inspectors Russell Kabir and Iqbal Hossain along with the Sangyi Force.
Later, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Kushtia District Magistrate Mumtahina Prithula arrived at the spot, destroyed the drugs (marijuana) in front of the witnesses present and sentenced the two drug users to 20 days of simple imprisonment under Section 36(a) of the Narcotics Control Act 2018 and 03 days of simple imprisonment in default of payment of a fine of 35 thousand taka.
Inspector of Kushtia District Narcotics Control Department Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter. He told the correspondent that such campaigns will continue to implement zero tolerance against drugs, God willing.
