The 20th annual Khatme Quran and Doar Mahfil was held at the initiative of Hajipura Balika Dakhil Madrasa in Moishatua Union, Manoharganj, Comilla.
The Khatme Quran, Khatme Yunus, Khatme Tahlil, Khatme Shefa, Durood Nariya and Doar Mahfil were held for the relief of crops from natural disasters, various calamities, the overall welfare of people living abroad, and the welfare and liberation of the country and nation.
Pir Saheb Maulana Khwaja Mohammad Ali Ullah of Islampur Gachtala Darbar Sharif in Chandpur led the prayers at the mahfil organized at the madrasa ground on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the mahfil, former office secretary of the central committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal, publisher and editor of the daily Ajker Jibon newspaper, Shafiqur Rahman Shafiq said, “For the past 15 years, scholars and ulamas have not been able to speak their truth, they have faced obstacles. The fascist Awami League people have insulted and humiliated the scholars. We will always stand by the scholars.”
At that time, he announced that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each class of the madrasa would be awarded 5,000, 4,000 and 3,000 taka, respectively, to encourage students to study.
Former chairman of Moishatua Union Md. Abdul Matin presided over the mahfil, and Madrasa donor member Lion Md. Harun Or Rashid delivered the welcome speech.
Special guests at the mahfil were Muhammad Badiul Alam Sujan, PP Advocate of the Women and Children’s Repression Prevention Tribunal of the Comilla District Judge’s Court, Monir Hossain, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Masudul Alam Bachchu, prominent businessman, Md. Zahirul Islam, donor member of the madrasa, Ahidur Rahman, Hafez Shah Alam, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Dental Physicians Society, Dentist Md. Shahjahan Majumder, and Mamunur Rashid, the eldest son of the founder of the madrasa, the late ATM Abdullah.
The special speakers at the mahfil were Maulana Mohammad Nurul Amin, Khatib of Dhaka Madhubazar Jame Mosque, Maulana Mamunur Rashid Al Kafi, Khatib of Laksam Upazila Health Complex Jame Mosque, and Maulana Riaz Uddin.
The mahfil, conducted by madrasa teachers Maulana Alamgir Hossain and Maulana Anisur Rahman, was attended by madrasa super Maulana Muniruzzaman, co-super Maulana Abdul Awal, and hundreds of scholars and Muslims from the area.
