According to local news, three units from Dashmina and Galachipa upazilas arrived and brought the fire under control after about 7 hours of effort with the help of locals. During this, a fire service worker (firefighter) named Munna was seriously injured, according to fire service personnel.

It is known that at around 8:30 am on Saturday morning, the fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit in the shop and warehouse of Md. Kuddus Hawlader, a jute merchant in Tetultala Bazar.

It is known that many people did not notice the matter at first because it was morning, but the fire spread to all parts of the warehouse due to the fierce fire.

A local rescue worker, Selim, said, “Hearing the smoke of the fire, the noise of the people and the screams of Quddus Hawlader and his family who were in the warehouse, I came with an iron (sapple) and broke the lock of the house and rescued them unharmed with the help of the people, but by then everything had burned down.

Meanwhile, upon hearing about the fire, local people from different classes tried their best to control the fire.

Sub-officer of Dashmina Fire Service and Civil Md. Kamruzzaman said, the fire started at around 8:30 in the morning from an electrical short circuit in the residential and patkhari warehouse of a businessman named Quddus Hawlader.

According to the locals, two units from Galachipa Upazila first arrived at the scene and tried to control the fire. Since the fire was likely to spread quickly, a unit from Dashmina Fire Service participated and tried for about 6 to 7 hours. During this time, when our firefighter fell ill, he was sent to Galachipa Health Complex for primary treatment. However, the extent of the damage caused by the fire cannot be ascertained at this time.

Galachipa Police Station OC Investigation Md. Joynal Abedin said that after hearing the news of the fire at Tetul Tola, police were sent to the scene, the fire has been completely brought under control and the law and order situation is normal.

At that time, the victim, Quddus Hawladar, said in a tearful voice, “Everything is over for me. It has been six months. I worked hard to build this concrete building and warehouse. Today it is all over!” Due to an electrical short circuit, my jute warehouse caught fire. Before I realized anything, the fire spread quickly. With the help of locals, I lost my mental balance as I managed to escape with my family and relatives. However, it was not possible to know the extent of the damage.

Upazila Relief and Disaster Officer Md. Rana Ahmed said that the fire incident is unfortunate. We are ready to provide all-round cooperation from the upazila administration.
