Memorial meeting and prayer mahfil on death of Faruk Alam Talukder, editor-publisher of Daily Alo Jagat newspaper

To pay tribute to the memory of Faruk Alam Talukder, a memorial meeting and prayer mahfil were organized at the Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club on February 16, afternoon, at the initiative of the Dainik Alo Jagat newspaper family.
The memorial meeting turned into a painful discussion meeting where the editors and publishers of the newspaper cried. There, the speakers expressed boundless anger and disappointment. While paying tribute to the memory of editor and publisher Faruk Alam Talukder, the speakers said that during the fascist government, this talented editor had to leave the DFP crying. He was broken when the agents of that fascist government of the DFP canceled the media of Dainik Alo Jagat newspaper. In that pain and suffering, Faruk Alam Talukder’s life became dark, he slowly fell into the lap of death.
The speakers also said that Faruk Alam Talukder was a dedicated personality of the newspaper industry, a dedicated soul. He made an unforgettable contribution to the field of print media during his career. His death is an irreparable loss for the newspaper industry of Bangladesh. His memory and contribution will remain in our minds forever.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Dhaka Journalists Union President Md. Shahidul Islam consoled all the editors, publishers and journalists present and said that these differences will be completely eliminated in the ongoing media reforms. The coming days will be a day of happy professionalism for journalists and editors.
Senior investigative reporter Saidur Rahman Rimon was present as the main discussant at the event. Present as special guests were Dhaka Union of Journalists Treasurer Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, former BFUJ Publicity Secretary Zakir Hossain, journalist leader Asaduzzaman, senior editor of Daily Samakal, National Journalists Association advisor Md. Abul Basar Majumder, editor and publisher of Daily Rupbani Faruk Ahmed, editor and publisher of Daily Swadhin Sangbad Anwar Hossain Akash, editor and publisher of Daily Ekushey Bani Ashraf Sarkar, National Press Society chairman Md. Mahbubul Islam, editor and publisher of Daily Sabuj Bangladesh Mohammad Masud, former para commando army officer Md. Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, general secretary of Bangladesh Newspaper Industry Council Md. Yunus Sohag, executive editor of Daily Muktir Yali, and editor-in-chief of Daily Ekushey Bani Anisur Rahman Prodhan. The program was presided over by Tuhin Bhuiyan, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Alo Jagat, and hosted by Managing Editor Sarkar Jamal.
At the beginning of the program, Executive Editor of Dainik Alo Jagat, HM Ershad, recited from the Holy Quran. Speakers at the program said that he was the lifeblood of journalists.
