Abdul Motaleb:

NSTU VC Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail has expressed his hope to bring Novikrab to a respectable position in the world rankings within the next two years. He said that an initiative has been taken for the first time to include the university in the rankings. An office called the Ranking Cell has been launched, and work is underway to reorganize that office. Therefore, NSTU VC can be brought to the rankings within two years. Teachers, students, officers, employees and Novikrab alumni of all departments and offices of NSTU will have to play a role in implementing this work.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the workshop titled ‘Workshop on NSTU’s Journey to Excellence: Inauguration of the QS Ranking Initiative’ organized at the seminar room of the NSTU Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on Sunday (16 February 2025).

In the workshop organized with the participation of teachers and officials, VC Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail also said that if teachers can create opportunities for their research patents and new products to be introduced in the market, the work of achieving QS Ranking will progress. For this, he called on researchers to strengthen their relationship with applied-based research and industry.

At the same time, he said that if teachers can publish their research articles in Scopus journals and update their websites, it will have a positive impact on QS Ranking. We will have an ISO certified lab in the near future so that world-class research programs are conducted at NSTU. In addition, good quality faculties from the developed world will be brought to NSTU as adjuncts. An alumni association will be formed in each department of NSTU, for which a policy will be prepared soon, he said.

The event was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr. Asadun Nabi and was attended by the special guests of the university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Haque and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Hanif. The keynote speaker at the workshop was NSTU R&D Improvement Committee Member Secretary and Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacy Dr. Fahd Hussain. The program moderator was IQAC’s Additional Director Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Qayyum Masud.

The workshop was attended by Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Haque said, just as the body cannot function properly if all the organs of the body are not working, similarly, the university cannot move forward if all the wings or branches of the university are not working. The university’s research cell is a huge undertaking. The biggest task in it is the creation of a database. We have prepared the database, updated the website and taken all the initiatives for research. I seek your sincere cooperation in this regard.

The keynote speaker of the workshop, Dr. Fahd Hussain, said, we have to be listed and come forward in research to see how different institutions in the world see us. Research is important in getting funds from any external institution. The number of international students, staff, co-authorship and foreign students is given priority in research. If we give NSTU affiliation and official e-mail to our alumni, our publication count will increase further and it will also help in increasing networking.
