Former Awami League MP Madani’s son and his followers still involved in drug trade in Trishal

The drug trade that started in Trishal through former Awami League MP Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani’s two sons, Trishal Upazila Chhatra League president Hasan Mahmud and his elder brother Prince, is still going on in public. Through this gang, Trishal once became a haven for the drug empire. At that time, drug trade was rampant in Trishal. Various types of drugs were sold, such as heroin, yaba, marijuana, opium and various types of drugs. This syndicate was led by former MP Madani’s two sons, Hasan and Prince. After the fall of the Awami League government, this gang went into hiding for a while, but now it is active again.

Sources say, Keranibari intersection in Ward No. 5 of Trishal municipality. Where a drug dealer named Mina is openly handing out marijuana and yaba to local and Kabi Nazrul University students day and night. Due to this, the young people of the surrounding area are becoming addicted to drugs. The local residents, who are fed up with the free movement of drug addicts, have informed the upazila administration and the police several times, but the police are not taking any action. Local people are worried about such a mysterious role of the police. There is extreme anger among the people of the area regarding this.

It is reported that drug sales have been going on openly for a long time at Keranibari intersection of Trishal Bhatipara village in Ward No. 5 of Trishal Municipality. Mina, the wife of local Faruk driver, is aggressively selling various types of drugs including marijuana and yaba by managing the police. Since this drug dealer has a good relationship with the police, his business is going on. The scope of Mina’s business has spread throughout the upazila. Especially since the area is adjacent to the National Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, students and teenagers and youth of the local area are becoming addicted to drugs. Drug addicts are getting involved in various crimes. Locals said that many boys and girls of Kabi Nazrul University are buying drugs from this spot. Locals are spending their time in fear of open drug sales and drug addicts. If anyone protests, drug addicts and sellers together with them show various kinds of intimidation. Locals, including families of drug addicts, complain to the administration about drugs at various times, but the police do not take any action.

Local Shahid Mia said that when we protest against open drug sales, we are threatened in various ways. Even after informing the police and administration, no remedy has been found.
Local Asad Mia said that I have heard that Mina is freely selling various types of drugs including marijuana and yaba by managing the police.

Although there has been open drug sales in the area for a long time and verbal complaints have been received, when I asked Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mansur Ahmed about this, he said that immediate action will be taken if any complaint is received.
