Md Roman Bepary:
The bodies of siblings have been recovered from the Kumar River in Madaripur after 3 days of disappearance. Their bodies were recovered from two separate places on Saturday (February 8) morning.
The names of the two deceased children are Umme Kulsum (12) and Minhaj Hossain (7). They are related.
It is learned that Miraj, 7-year-old son of Liton Madbar of Tarmugaria area of Madaripur city, went to bathe in the Kumar River near his house after returning from the madrasa on Wednesday afternoon. He drowned instantly. His 13-year-old sister Kulsum jumped into the river to save Minhaj. Then both of them went missing. Upon receiving the news, the Fire Service diving team started a rescue operation. The Fire Service failed to rescue the missing people after conducting a three-day operation along with the locals. The bodies of Minhaj and Kulsum were found in Thantali area of Nader town, three kilometers from their home on Saturday morning.
Liton Madabar, the father of the two children, said, If they had known that they would die while bathing in the Kumar River, no one would have let them enter the water. How can I bear this grief? The fire service has been so negligent, I did not expect this.
Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Police Station, said, “Police were sent to the scene after receiving the information. Since the family has no complaint, the bodies have been handed over to the family.
