Journalists Union Dinajpur’s annual meet-up held

The annual meet-up of Journalists Union Dinajpur (2936) was held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the National Park (Ramsagar) in Dinajpur.

Shawkat Mahmud, former president of the National Press Club and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), was present as the chief guest at the event. He said, “Awami fascism has departed, but its followers still remain. The editors of the owner-run newspapers have left, but their followers are still active. Sometimes it seems as if fascism can return again.”

He also said, “I believe that the freedom that has been restored through the student movement will never allow fascism to return. We must remain united and maintain the spirit of democracy and freedom.”

He said the above words at the get-together program of the Journalists Union of Dinajpur. He distributed prizes among the winners at the end of the cultural program and poetry recitation competition as part of the day-long program. The program was presided over by the President of the Journalists Union of Dinajpur, G.M. Hiru, and the moderator was former General Secretary Atiur Rahman. Members of the Journalists Union of 13 upazilas of Dinajpur participated in the banquet. The program included cultural performances, poetry recitation and various competitions. The participants said that such programs not only increase camaraderie among journalists, but also provide new enthusiasm for work.
