Due to a land dispute in Sonaimuri, opponent Raish Uddin, a tenant, attacked a residential house with 15/20 terrorists and seriously injured Solaiman (45), Nasir Uddin (40), Jannatul Ferdaus (35) of the same house.
According to the victim and local sources, Cholaiman and Nasir Uddin, sons of the deceased Sayedul Haque Member, and opponent Raish Uddin of the same house live in the new house of Haji Abdul Majid of Barahipur village of Sonapur UP, No. 8 of the upazila. There has been a long-standing dispute between them over some land in the residential house. While this dispute was ongoing, Rais Uddin, through his neighbor surveyor Ashiq Majumdar alias Moran, measured the occupied position in 2015 and placed poles on the boundary of Solaiman’s house, indicating that Rais Uddin was the recipient of some land. Many locals said that the measurement was planned on one side and that surveyor Ashiq Kumar was influenced. Since the measurement was not in accordance with the mouza design and marking, the victim Solaiman and his brothers expressed their desire to verify and decide on the measurement.
Later, Rais Uddin filed a written complaint with the Sonaimuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office in 2021 for dispute resolution. Rais Uddin was repeatedly summoned to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer to take the truth and statement in the complaint, but the Upazila Nirbahi Officer dismissed the complaint. On Saturday (January 25, 2025) at 7:30 am, 15/20 hired terrorists from outside attacked the family of Solaiman and vandalized their house. Nasir Uddin, Solaiman and his wife Jannatul Ferdaus were seriously injured in the terrorist attack. When the locals came forward, the terrorists fled the scene.
They were later taken to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment. It is known that the preparation of the case is underway as of the time of writing this report. Since the attacker Raish Uddin’s house could not be found to get his statement regarding the incident, we called his mobile phone repeatedly but it was not possible to get his statement as he did not receive it. The injured are currently undergoing treatment.
