Police of Lama Police Station in Bandarban have arrested 7 accused in a robbery case and recovered 3 stolen motorcycles in separate operations. The matter was confirmed in a press release issued by Lama Police Station on Sunday, January 26. Police said that at 7:30 am on January 4, four unidentified masked men came on two motorcycles on the Lama-Chakaria road and stopped a young man named Zahed Hasan. At that time, the masked miscreants pulled Zahed Hasan off the motorcycle, beat him repeatedly, threatened him with a knife and stole his used Bajaj Discover 125 cc motorcycle, an OPPO A95 smart phone and a bag with various documents. In this incident, a robbery case was registered at Lama Police Station on January 4 based on the plaintiff’s complaint. The investigation of the case was entrusted to SI Jamil Ahmed.
The seven accused arrested in the case through the use of police technology and sources are Md. Khairul Amin Q. Gurmani (21), Jahidul Islam Manik (22), Md. Salauddin (25), Md. Didar (25), Habibur Rahman Prakash Guti (20), Anwar Hossain (25), Abu Sharif (22). They are all residents of Lama area of ​​Bandarban district and Chakaria area of ​​Cox’s Bazar district. Another accused in this case is detained at the neighboring Lohagara police station. He has also been arrested in this case. The police also said that they first seized the OPPO A95 model mobile phone of the plaintiff Zahed Hasan. Later, the accused was brought to police remand and interrogated. Based on the information received, they conducted a search operation and arrested the other accused and recovered the motorcycle. Meanwhile, in this incident, the accused in the case voluntarily gave a confessional statement in court under Section 164 of the Penal Code stating that they were involved in the robbery. Lama Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahadat Hossain said that a total of 03 (three) motorcycles, including 01 Pulsar 150cc, 01 Suzuki Gixxer, and 01 Discover, were recovered from the custody of the accused.
