Staff Reporter: The lock of the Mourat Union Land Office in Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari is not opened at the scheduled time, even at 11 am, the office lock is not opened. Service seekers have to go back to get the service. Not only that, they are not getting the land deeds even after visiting for 4-5 months. The Deputy Assistant Land Officer does not even know how many deeds applications have been submitted. Locals said that the office has not opened before 11 am for two-three weeks. Many people sit outside the office for 2-3 hours after coming to get the service. Many people sit and wait for a long time and leave after getting bored. When I went to the spot on Monday (January 20), I spoke to some service seekers. At that time, they said that they came around 9 am and found the office closed. The office opened around 11:30 am.
At that time, a service seeker named Intaz from Choubaria village of the union said that 3-4 months ago, he paid 2,000 taka to Abdul Majid, deputy assistant officer of the land office, for the land transfer of his 21 hundredths of land. His land has not been transferred yet. He has been having to go to the land office for more than two months to get the transfer papers. Abdul Majid, deputy assistant officer of the Mourat Union Land Office, said that there was a meeting at the Pangsha office and the office is opening a little late due to our ongoing audit. When asked how many transfer applications have been submitted, he said, I have not received any transfer papers. You know, I can’t tell you by searching the AC Land office.
In this regard, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Aminul Islam said, “I have just joined here. I am not aware of the matter. The matter will be investigated and if the truth is found, necessary action will definitely be taken.”
