Comilla Barura in a public awareness training on the role of youth in social activities and voluntary work was held on the occasion of the Youth Festival 2025 in light of the theme “Come, let’s change the country and the world” with the aim of building a new Bangladesh.
The day-long event organized by the Upazila Administration and Youth Development Department on Monday, January 20, was presided over by Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong. Comilla District Youth Development Department Deputy Director Md. Shamsuzzaman was present as the chief guest. Barura Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, Upazila Disability Affairs Officer Md. Monirul Islam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan were present as special guests.
Present at the event were journalist Md. Ikramul Haque, general secretary of Barura Upazila Press Club, president of Barura Manab Sheba Social Organization and Kazi Momin Ullah Bhuiyan of Shilmuri North Union, among others.
Moderated by Upazila Assistant Youth Development Officer Md. Elias Mia, representatives of youth organizations included youth activist journalists Md. Sharif Uddin Md. Russell Hossain, Tahmina Akhter, Shahanara Begum, student representatives Kazi Md. Ala Uddin, Abu Yusuf Rabet, etc. Representatives of various women’s development, voluntary and social organizations were present at the event.
On this day, awareness-raising workshops on alternatives to plastic products, the use of jute products instead of polythene, and the role of youth in social activities and volunteer work were held.
The closing ceremony and distribution of travel allowances for a 5-day training course on integrated farm management and extension and biogas technology were held under the project titled “Comprehensive Technology-Based Integrated Resource Management for Poverty Alleviation (IMPACT) Phase 3 (1st Revised)” being implemented by the Department of Youth Development.
